is a kind of polymer material with high elasticity. Different industries have different requirements for rubber, some require high strength, stress resistance, wear resistance, and some require oil resistance, low temperature resistance, high temperature resistance, aging resistance, etc. Different rubber formulations can meet the above requirements. The properties of rubber mainly depend on the type of raw rubber used and the formulation of the rubber material. Below we introduce the main properties of several commonly used rubbers: 1. Natural rubber (NR): Natural rubber seals (NR) is an isoprene polymer. 1.1 Advantages: Excellent resilience, tensile strength, elongation, abrasion resistance, tear and compression set properties are superior to most synthetic rubbers. 1.2 Disadvantages: Not resistant to oil, poor weather resistance, ozone and oxygen performance. 1.3 Operating temperature range: -60~100℃. 1.4 Applicable industry scope: making tires, shock absorption parts, buffer ropes and sealing parts. 2. Nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR): Nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) is a copolymer of butadiene acrylonitrile. 2.1 Advantages: The content is controllable and the performance can be adjusted. Generally, it contains 18%, 26% or 40% of acrylonitrile. The higher the content, the better the oil resistance, heat resistance and wear resistance, but the cold resistance is the opposite. Carboxyl-containing nitrile rubber has better wear resistance, high temperature resistance and oil resistance than nitrile rubber. 2.2 Disadvantages: Not resistant to weather, not resistant to ozone aging, not resistant to phosphate ester hydraulic oil. 2.3 Operating temperature range: -55~130℃. 2.4 Applicable industry scope: suitable for making various oil-resistant sealing parts, diaphragms, hoses and soft oil tanks. 3. Silicone rubber (VQM): Silicone rubber is polysiloxane. Usually there are dimethyl silicone rubber (MQ), methyl vinyl silicone rubber (MVQ), methyl phenyl silicone rubber (MPQ), methyl phenyl vinyl silicone rubber (MPVQ) and so on. 3.1 Advantages: It has excellent heat resistance, cold resistance and aging resistance, excellent insulation resistance and dielectric properties, and good thermal conductivity. 3.2 Disadvantages: poor strength and tear resistance, not oil-resistant, and expensive. 3.3 Operating temperature range: -70~280℃. 3.4 Applicable industry scope: Generally suitable for making sealing rings, sealing profiles, oxygen bellows, diaphragms, shock absorbers, insulating materials, and heat insulating sponge rubber sheets. 4. Fluorine rubber (FKM): fluorine rubber is commonly used in fluorine rubber—26. Fluorine rubber—246, the former is a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene, and the latter is a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. 4.1 Advantages: outstanding heat resistance, oil resistance, acid and alkali resistance, aging performance and electrical insulation performance, flame retardant, low air permeability. 4.2 Disadvantages: poor performance at low temperature and high price. 4.3 The operating temperature range is -40~250℃, and it can reach 300℃ in a short time. 4.4 Scope of application industry: It is suitable for making various sealing parts, hoses, tapes and fuel tanks that require heat resistance and oil resistance. 5. Neoprene (CR): Neoprene (CR) is a chloroprene polymer. 5.1 Advantages: Weather resistance, ozone aging resistance, self-extinguishing, oil resistance second only to nitrile rubber, excellent tensile strength, elongation, resilience, and good adhesion to metals and fabrics. 5.2 Disadvantages: Difficult to form, poor flow performance. 5.3 Operating temperature range: -35~130℃. 5.4 Applicable industry scope: suitable for making sealing rings and sealing profiles, rubber hoses, coatings, wire insulation layers, tapes and preparation of adhesives, etc. The product is not resistant to synthetic diester lubricating oil and phosphate ester hydraulic oil. 6. Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR): a copolymer of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) butadiene and styrene. 6.1 Advantages: 10% styrene-butadiene-10 has good cold resistance, and 30% styrene-butadiene-30 has excellent abrasion resistance. 6.2 Disadvantages: The product has poor oil resistance and aging resistance. 6.3 Operating temperature range: -60~120℃. 6.4 Applicable industries: suitable for making tires and sealing parts. 7. Ethylene-propylene rubber (EPM, EPDM): Ethylene-propylene rubber is a binary copolymer (EPM) of ethylene and propylene or a terpolymer (EPDM) of ethylene, propylene and diene olefins. 7.1 Advantages: Weather resistance, ozone aging resistance, steam resistance, phosphate ester hydraulic oil, acid, alkali, rocket fuel and oxidant, excellent electrical insulation performance. 7.2 Disadvantages: The product is not resistant to petroleum-based oils. 7.3 Operating temperature range: -60~150℃. 7.4 Applicable to the scope of the industry: suitable for the production of sealing parts of phosphate ester hydraulic oil system, rubber hose and aircraft, automobile door and window sealing profiles, tape and wire insulation.
