U-Cup Description

U-cups are a lip seal, named for the cross-section’s distinctive “U” shape. They are used for both dynamic and static applications. The “U” shape energizes the sealing lips as the application pressure increases. This brilliant design has been modified to create several unique configurations. These modifications provide additional benefits for a variety of applications.

As we can see in the drawing, the cross section have two lips, so they are also known as lip seals.

Description of NBR

Besides NBR, materials used on the asymmetrical seals vary from Urethane, and FKM to possibly Ethylene Propylene (EPR), Fabric and Rubber, Highly Saturated Nitrile (HSN) or PTFE.

Application

U-Cups are used interchangeably for piston or rod sealing.They are commonly used in linear applications to seal the rod or piston. Usually used in air pump, hydraulic cylinder.
